Fishers Tigers 2026 football preview

Head coach Curt Funk is quietly making his mark at Fishers. Playing one of the tougher schedules in the state and being a member of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference, the Tigers were able to break through and win two consecutive sectionals in 2024 and 2025. Funk is 38-29 in his first six and 115-65 overall in 16 years, spending his first 10 at Mississinewa.

After two straight sectional championships, Fishers looks to get beyond the regional for the first time since 2010 when they won the Class 5A state championship over Lawrence Central (38-19).

The task to advance beyond 6A Sectional 3 has grown a little taller this year with the sectional realignment. Sectional 3 might be considered the toughest 6A sectional now, since it has the Tigers, Hamilton Southeastern, Carmel and Westfield.

Just like a majority of 6A teams, their two non-conference opponents are just as tough as their HCC slate. Week 1, Fishers visits #2 Carmel in an all-county battle tomorrow night, Aug. 21.

Two home dates on Aug. 28 with #7 Lawrence North and Noblesville on Sept. 4 gets the Tigers past two MIC non-conference opponents and right into HCC action with the Millers. 

It will be fitting that the Mudsock game takes place on Sept. 11 and it's also the shortest road trip in the state. The City of Fishers will get together as one to cheer on either the Tigers or the Royals. That same night, the whole country will take time that night to pause and reflect on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Fishers hosts Brownsburg at home on Sept. 18, then hits the road for three of their final four. Two of those are the longest road trips in the HCC on Sept. 25 at Avon and Oct. 2 at Franklin Central. 

Westfield visits on Oct. 9 for the final home game of the regular season and the Tigers head to Boone County to face Zionsville to end the regular season.

Hamilton Heights Huskies 2026 football preview

By Craig Adkins Husky alum Caleb Small is back in Arcadia to take over the program as head coach. Small has two years of head coaching experience under his belt and a 13-9 record. He spent 2024 at Northwestern, going 9-2. Last year, Small was at Kokomo and guided the Wildkats to a 4-7 mark. The Huskies are in search of their first sectional title since 2012. That season, current Assistant Principal Mitch Street was the head coach and led Heights to the 3A state championship game before falling to Bishop Chatard, 30-13. Hamilton Heights finished 4-6 in 2025, bowing out in an all-county matchup with Guerin Catholic in the first round of the sectional. The Huskies start things off on the road tonight at Lapel. Next week on Aug. 28, Heights welcomes a first-time opponent. London (OH) comes to Arcadia. Just west of Columbus, the Red Raiders went 12-1 (5-0 in the Central Buckeye Conference).
