Fishers Tigers 2026 football preview

Head coach Curt Funk is quietly making his mark at Fishers. Playing one of the tougher schedules in the state and being a member of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference, the Tigers were able to break through and win two consecutive sectionals in 2024 and 2025. Funk is 38-29 in his first six and 115-65 overall in 16 years, spending his first 10 at Mississinewa. After two straight sectional championships, Fishers looks to get beyond the regional for the first time since 2010 when they won the Class 5A state championship over Lawrence Central (38-19). The task to advance beyond 6A Sectional 3 has grown a little taller this year with the sectional realignment. Sectional 3 might be considered the toughest 6A sectional now, since it has the Tigers, Hamilton Southeastern, Carmel and Westfield. Noblesville Millers 2026 football preview

By Craig Adkins Head coach John Hebert, along with his great coaching staff, has what it takes to get the Noblesville back on the right track on the gridiron. Hebert was 82-39 at Carmel before coming to Noblesville. His teams at Carmel won six sectionals, five regional, three semi-states and two state championships (2016 and 2019). The Millers are doing everything they can to right the ship on the gridiron. Last season, Noblesville struggled putting points on the scoreboard. Averaging 11 points and giving up 31 per game defensively resulted in a 1-9 record. Friday night’s season opener at home with Indianapolis Arsenal Tech will be the first-ever between the Millers and Titans. A Week 2 road trip north up I-69 takes Noblesville to Homestead in search of revenge for last year’s loss. Hoosier Crossroads Conference play starts in Week 3 on the road at Fishers. Hamilton Heights Huskies 2026 football preview

By Craig Adkins Husky alum Caleb Small is back in Arcadia to take over the program as head coach. Small has two years of head coaching experience under his belt and a 13-9 record. He spent 2024 at Northwestern, going 9-2. Last year, Small was at Kokomo and guided the Wildkats to a 4-7 mark. The Huskies are in search of their first sectional title since 2012. That season, current Assistant Principal Mitch Street was the head coach and led Heights to the 3A state championship game before falling to Bishop Chatard, 30-13. Hamilton Heights finished 4-6 in 2025, bowing out in an all-county matchup with Guerin Catholic in the first round of the sectional. The Huskies start things off on the road tonight at Lapel. Next week on Aug. 28, Heights welcomes a first-time opponent. London (OH) comes to Arcadia. Just west of Columbus, the Red Raiders went 12-1 (5-0 in the Central Buckeye Conference). Hamilton Southeastern Royals 2026 football preview

 By Craig Adkins The Hamilton Southeastern Royals come in at #8 in the preseason coaches poll. Head coach Michael Kelly enters his 7 th season and looks to make some headway in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference and get that elusive sectional title in a tough Sectional 3 in Class 6A. Kelly is 48-19 in his first six seasons at HSE and overall is 62-35. He was 14-16 in three years from 2017-19 at Seymour. The Royals have made early playoff exits the last two seasons to district rival Fishers by a total of 11 points. The two seasons prior, HSE beat the Tigers for sectional crowns. In 2022, Southeastern shutout Westfield at home in the regional 20-0, but was edged out on the road in the semi-state at Carroll (Fort Wayne) 21-15. In 2023, HSE suffered a narrow loss at Westfield in the regional, 24-21. Since that 2022 semi-state matchup, HSE and Carroll have started a home-and-home series. Carmel Greyhounds 2026 football preview

The Carmel Greyhounds are anxious to get the season started. Last season resulted in a 9-2 record, but didn’t end like they wanted. A sectional championship loss at home in overtime to eventual state runner-up Westfield (23-20) has the Hounds primed for an even better 2026. Kevin Wright starts his second season with a bang and keep the Greyhounds on the rise. Wright was 54-10 in five seasons from 2010-14 in his first stint at Carmel, winning the 5A state title in 2011 and runner-up finishes in 2013-14. He has been a head coach for 21 years, most notably at Carmel and during his time at Warren Central.   In six seasons from 2000-05, Warren Central went 71-12 with six consecutive sectional championships, along with three straight 5A state crowns from 2003-05. Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles 2026 football preview

By Craig Adkins Head coach Tom Dilley is back for his 13 th season leading the Golden Eagles, going 77-56 in his first 12. In his first season, he led Guerin to its last sectional title in 2014. Prior to coming to Guerin Catholic, Dilley was at Lawrence North from 2003-2012, winning 45 and lost 61. His first four seasons as a head coach, Dilley was at Bishop Chatard from 1999-2002. He went 35-16 and won back-to-back Class 3A state championships in 2001-02. Overall in 26 years, he's 157-133. Guerin Catholic was 7-5 and reached the 3A Sectional 29 championship game last season and was upended on the road at top-ranked Cascade (49-21), the eventual 2A state champ. This season, GC moves up to Class 4A in Sectional 21 with potential sectional opponents' of Brebeuf Jesuit, Danville, Frankfort, Bishop Chatard, Indianapolis Shortridge, Lebanon and Northview. Sheridan Blackhawks 2026 football preview

By Craig Adkins Sheridan alum Jake Chesney is back for his second season leading the Blackhawks. The goals are high as they're set to improve on last year’s 8-3 season that helped them grab a sectional championship in Chesney’s first year. Losing the regional title game at eventual Class 1A state champion South Putnam (26-6) should have the ‘Hawks motivated. " The main focus this off-season was to establish the new leaders and set/build on the positive culture set by the previous senior class. We graduated a solid group both on and off the field but this years team accepted the challenge and we’ve made great strides as a unit in both on-field performance and carrying on Sheridan Football culture," said head coach Jake Chesney.
