Hamilton Heights Huskies 2026 football preview

By Craig Adkins

Husky alum Caleb Small is back in Arcadia to take over the program as head coach. Small has two years of head coaching experience under his belt and a 13-9 record. He spent 2024 at Northwestern, going 9-2. Last year, Small was at Kokomo and guided the Wildkats to a 4-7 mark.

The Huskies are in search of their first sectional title since 2012. That season, current Assistant Principal Mitch Street was the head coach and led Heights to the 3A state championship game before falling to Bishop Chatard, 30-13.

Hamilton Heights finished 4-6 in 2025, bowing out in an all-county matchup with Guerin Catholic in the first round of the sectional.

The Huskies start things off on the road tonight at Lapel. Next week on Aug. 28, Heights welcomes a first-time opponent. London (OH) comes to Arcadia. Just west of Columbus, the Red Raiders went 12-1 (5-0 in the Central Buckeye Conference).

Hoosier Conference play starts in Week 3 on the road at Logansport on Sept. 4. Week 4 is another away game at Tipton in the HC on Sept. 11.

The Western Panthers come to Husky Stadium on Sept. 18, then the Huskies head to Lafayette Central Catholic on Sept. 25. Another home game brings the Benton Central Bison in on Oct. 2.

The final road test sends Heights to Monticello to face Twin Lakes on Oct. 9. The regular season finishes up on Oct. 16 at home versus the West Lafayette Red Devils.

Offensively, senior Drew Woodruff will lead the offense at quarterback with a couple seasons already in his back pocket. Woodruff was 136-240 (.567) for 1,742 yards with 13 TDs and 7 INTs.

Senior AJ Flanagan is the leading rusher back with 148 carries for 813 yards and 7 TDs. He also caught 20 passes for 181 yards.

Junior Landon Hickman is the top defender back with 69 tackles in 2025.
